Aches & pains
Aches and pains in the feet and legs are very common, and can become debilitating if left treated.
- Plantar fasciitis/heel pain
- Arch pain
- Achilles tendinitis
- Morton’s neuroma
- Bunion pain
- Numbness in feet
- Ankle pain
- Shin splints
- Knee pain
- Hip pain & low back pain
These are all common conditions we see as Podiatrists. These conditions can be complex on its own. Complexity multiplies when multiple areas of pain occur simultaneously. Our approach generally consists of both short-term, symptomatic and long-term aspects to give you effective, long-lasting improvement.
video gait analysis
Our feet are intricately designed to adapt to various surfaces, absorb shock, generate thrust and momentum, allowing us to walk efficiently. However, if at any point of the gait cycle, the feet are not functioning the way they should, it can lead to an inefficient use of our legs. This predisposes us to developing aches and pains.
custom-made 3d printed orthotics
The next generation of orthotics is here! 3D printed orthotics are light, sleek and comfortable. They provide exceptional function and comfort.
Orthotics are often used as a treatment for plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, and ankle/knee/hip pain by modulating foot function. The simplest way to put it is to imagine orthotics as glasses – you see better with glasses; you walk better with orthotics!
growing pains & children's feet
Growing pains are also one of the conditions Podiatrists see. Growing pains affect a large percentage of growing kids and can leave parents feeling helpless. Children with growing pains can become withdrawn from their favourite sports and less engaged at school. Growing pains are NOT normal and should be treated.
Physical therapies can help manage aches and pains of the feet and legs. EMS (electrical muscle stimulation), low-level laser, and percussion therapy (high intensity massage) are some of the physical therapies we use. They work effectively in conjunction to orthotic therapy (if the need for it is indicated) for better treatment outcomes.
Sometimes exercises are a great way to train and strengthen injured muscles. We may introduce exercises (one to two at a time) gradually into your treatment if there is an indication for it.
